1. DEVELOPING THE BRIEF

At Favreau Design, we are passionate about creating spaces that are tailored to our clients’ unique needs andproject is understanding our clients’ needs and wants.  That’s why we start by developing a comprehensive brief that captures every detail of our clients’ vision for their space. 

We lead our clients through a fun and effective process that helps us understand exactly what they want, and we pride ourselves on our ability to turn that vision into a  reality. 

The brief we develop serves as a guide throughout the entire process, helping us set clear objectives and create concise presentations, timelines, and budgets. This ensures that our clients always know what to expect, and that we deliver on our promises every step of the way.

2. PLANNING

At Favreau Design, we understand that every successful project begins with careful and collaborative planning. With 17 years of experience in the residential, hospitality, and commercial design sectors, we have honed our ability to execute projects seamlessly from concept to completion. 

We believe that communication is key, and we work closely with our clients to understand their needs  and desires, helping them develop a budget if desired. Our approach allows us to minimize surprises and address unforeseen issues in a graceful and decisive way, ensuring that the experience feels as enjoyable as possible for our clients.

3. CONCEPT PRESENTATION

At Favreau Design, we understand the power of visual inspiration when it comes to interior design. That’s why we put together a concept presentation that showcases inspirational imagery, fabrics, and finishes, helping our clients understand the direction their design is headed. 

This step is integral to the design process, allowing us to refine our design plan and establish the next steps. Our team of experts brings together years of experience and a keen eye for design, ensuring that every concept presentation we create is tailored to our clients’ unique needs and desires.

4. DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

At Favreau Design, we believe that the devil is in the details, and that’s why we take a meticulous approach to every project we undertake. At this stage of the design process, we narrow down the scope, bringing us closer to the final designs.

We present floor plans and layout drawings that bring your vision to life, as well as finish ideas for kitchens and baths, if applicable. We also propose any necessary architectural or structural changes to ensure that your space is not only beautiful, but also functional and safe. 

Throughout this stage and subsequent stages, we work closely with our clients and subcontractors to ensure that our ideas are feasible, affordable, and functional. We believe that the best design is a collaborative effort, and we are committed to working with you every step of the way to ensure that your vision is realized.

5. FINAL PRESENTATION

Our final presentation includes layouts, fabrics, furniture frames, rugs, finishes, and lighting, as well as detailed floor plans and elevations for every room. We also provide shop drawings for all custom furniture, so you can see exactly how your space will come together. 

Our goal is to make our clients 100% confident in their choices before moving forward. We believe that clear communication and transparency are key to a successful project, which is why we provide a budget detailing all costs, material details, and vendor policies. This allows our clients to make informed decisions and feel fully supported throughout the entire process

6.  DOCUMENTATION AND IMPLEMENTATION

At Favreau Design, we believe that a successful project is not just about the design, but also about the execution. That’s why we take care of every detail, from purchasing to ordering thru subcontractor liaison and receiving and installation. Once the design presentation is approved, we get to work on developing and presenting all the necessary documents for your approval. We work closely with our trusted vendors ensuring that every item meets quality and craftsmanship standards. To ensure that our clients are always informed and in control of the process, we schedule a final review  of the budget followed by detailed purchase orders for their approval. This allows our clients to make any necessary adjustments before moving forward with the project, ensuring that there are no surprises or unexpected costs along the way. Whether a luxury building with guidelines for remodels and subcontractor access, residential home or a commercial endeavor, we ensure clear and concise communication to ensure a smooth and thoughtful process.

7. REPORTING AND COMMUNICATION

In the world of interior design, clear communication is of the essence. Our team understands this better than anyone else. We take each project seriously, no matter the size or duration, and supervise artisans and subcontractors every step of the way. We meet with your contractor regularly, and make sure to stop by the job site frequently to ensure that everything is progressing smoothly and accurately. At the end of every week we send our clients a detailed report on the progress of the construction, renovation, or upgrades. This report includes the status of all furnishings and finishes, so that our clients are kept fully informed throughout the entire process. We firmly believe that communication is key, especially during this critical phase.

8. INSTALLATION

At last, the moment has come to bring the design vision to life and into your home. We take charge of  the entire installation process, ensuring that everything is executed seamlessly and in a timely manner.  From coordinating deliveries to hanging artwork, our team handles every detail to ensure that the final result is nothing short of stunning. 

Our installation process is not only about placing furniture in the right location but also about styling and accessorizing each room to perfection. We pay close attention to every detail, from the lighting to the draperies, to ensure that the final look is cohesive and breathtaking. 

Our ultimate goal is to leave our clients speechless with the final result. We take immense pride in delivering a home that is not only beautiful but also functional and personalized to each individual’s unique tastes and lifestyle. 

9. FEE STRUCTURE

Hourly Rate: $250 per hour for principal, Steven Favreau /$150 per hour for Designers/Project Manager/ $150 per hour for Drafting and Reports. 

Purchasing fee: We charge an industry standard purchasing fee of 30% on cost of furnishings and materials. 

Receiving and Delivery: There is a 10% administrative fee for coordinating with the receiver and delivery. A receiver is the warehousing company that receives all furnishings until installation.  

Retainer: We charge percentage retainer that is held in escrow and applied toward the end of the project.  

Disbursements: There is a retainer for transportation, blueprints, duplication of plans, FedEx, messengers, etc. Transportation includes gas and toll costs for site visits, vendor and trade resourcing, workroom visits, etc. 

Advanced Renderings: Should you have the need, we can deliver 3D Renderings for each room. Cost based on scope and will be estimated before ordering.

Our accounting department invoices once per month unless there is a deadline needing additional attention. 

Clients receive invoices that are directly related to our hourly fee and disbursements. They also receive purchase orders detailing every furnishing with information on returns, restocking and materials used. 

We order furnishings once funds are recieved.

FAQs

Q: How will you integrate your style with mine?

A: While you are hiring us for our unique point of view, our  job is to ensure your home looks exactly like you and  filtered through our artistry. 

Q: What is your fee structure? 

A: We adhere to a standard industry fee breakdown that  is detailed in the agreement. We charge an hourly rate and a percentage on all furnishings and labor. We will bill you monthly. 

Q: Can you work within my budget? 

A: Your budget is the most important administrative tool.  We don’t move beyond the costs detailed in the budget without your input and approval.

Q: How long does a typical project take? 

A: Every project is different. The timing is contingent on  the scope, availability of materials, contractor availability and your ability to make decisions. 

Q: Do I need to buy everything new? 

A: We are always happy to include furnishings, art, lighting, etc. from your existing home.  

Q: How involved will I need to be in the design process?

A: There are phases of the project where we require your involvement while other phases are less important. We will discuss this at one of our first meetings.

Q: Will you work with contractors and other vendors on  my behalf? 

A: Yes. Collaboration with contractors and vendors is para mount to a successful project.  

Q: Can you provide references or examples of past projects? 

A: Our work is well represented on our website. We can arrange references should you desire. 

Q: Are you insured?  

A: We are covered by the maximum recommended for our  industry.  

Q: What if I need more visuals than you offer?

A: We offer 3D and “photo realistic renderings should you require.  

Q: Do you have your own contractors? 

A: We have excellent relationships with many Boston area contractors and are happy to make referrals.
